Industry Insight from Mukesh Dhamala
Mukesh Dhamala, a member of the Education Council at the Confederation of Nepalese Industries, has commented on the impact of the recent KIIT incident in India. He noted that while the Nepalese government acted swiftly through its embassy to ensure student safety, the event has created diplomatic tension and raised serious questions about institutional accountability and student welfare policies in host countries. According to Dhamala, the tragedy has made Nepali students and parents significantly more cautious, with a sharp rise in inquiries about safety protocols at Indian institutions. He warned that future enrolments may decline unless Indian universities implement strong, visible safety measures. He also stressed the urgent need for dedicated student support teams—preferably with Nepali staff—and closer monitoring by the Embassy on campuses to safeguard the well-being of Nepali students abroad.
